Students should adhere to the following dates when submitting drafts of the capstone paper in order to sit for the comprehensive examination.
September 1: Capstone Paper Approval Forms with One-Page Summary
September 1: Request to Sit for Comps Due
January 15: First Draft of Capstone Paper Due
February 15: Second Draft of Capstone Paper Due
March 1: Final Approval of Capstone Paper Due
Mid-March: Comprehensive Exam
April 1: Final Draft (including all editorial corrections) must be submitted for students to get credit for passing comprehensive exam
June 1: Capstone Paper Approval Forms with One-Page Summary
June 1: Request to Sit for Comps Due
August 15: First Draft of Capstone Paper Due
September 15: Second Draft of Capstone Paper Due
October 1: Final Approval of Capstone Paper Due
Mid-October: Comprehensive Exam
November 1: Final Draft (including all editorial corrections) must be submitted for students to get credit for passing comprehensive exam
If one of the above dates falls on a Saturday, Sunday or holiday, the effective date will be the next day that the office is open. Please refer to the current MPA Student Handbook for details on how to select a capstone paper director and file human subjects paperwork with the N.I.U. Office of Research Compliance.
